The Glaxy Tab from Samsung has gained an exclusive deal with mobile game makers Gameloft in which the games N.O.V.A. (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance) HD and Asphalt 5 HD will come pre-installed on the Galaxy Tab. In addition to these games, it will come with the Financial Times app that will give users access to the FT content.
These are all results of Samsung cracking exclusive content deals with Gameloft, Financial Times and WHSmith. All three of these outlets will be responsible for providing exclusive content for its Galxy Tab Android tablet device, that is poised to take on the segment leader from Apple — the iPad.
Other than the two games from Gameloft that are to come pre-installed on the Galaxy, there are five more games coming form Gameloft that will be available from the Android Market around the same time as the the Galaxy Tab’s launch date, which is scheduled for 1st of Novemeber as of now.
The FT deal will give the users access to the exclusive FT content that features the latest market updates, financial news and CEO interviews afresh every morning. The best part is that users can access the data offline for their perusal while they are commuting or unable to access the internet. Other than the content, the app will have a Market Data section with company information and macromaps that show the developments in the market. It will also allow users to view their investment portfolio.
WHSmith is making a Kindle style e-book reader that will have customizable viewing options and will also feature discounted best-selling e-books.
This combination of content makes it looks like Samsung has been grabbing whatever it can in order to get its tablet some edge over the rest. But the collection lacks a focus and targets no segment in particular. So it might not really have any positive effects on the tablet.
