Audible from Amazon [NASDAQ:AMZN] has been soaring in popularity for quite some time now with their continuous addition of good audiobooks. But so far Android users have been suffering with an Audible app that does not do much. And that too after waiting for Audible to finally have some kind of an App on their platform. Well, now Audible has finally stepped up with an upgraded version of their app for Android.

The version before this latest Audible release required users to use a separate client software on their Mac or PC to download Audible audiobooks and then they had to transfer those books to their mobile devices for later listening. The current app allows users to download audiobooks directly to their mobile devices and much more.

Audible latest Android app version also updates the users listening stats and broadcasts updates about badges whenever they are achieved. uses can also access the updated news feed on the app — thanks to the full online access that the user now has through the Android app. You can thus be updated about that book you have been following and keep track of what your favorite authors have been upto — at least as far as their new reports are concerned.

This new app also has social networking integration. So you can now share your experience over twitter and update it on Facebook. The app also allows you to mark favorites and browse by chapters. These are the advanced features that have been sorely missing from the Android app. This app will run on most Android mobile devices — it supports all devices that are Android 1.x and above. The app is available for free from the Android marketplace — as it should be.
