If there’s one place where iOS really gets to lord it over Android OS, if it is not the massive number of apps, it is the sheer number of really great gaming titles that are available for the iOS. Android users have really been unlucky that way when it comes to good games being developed for powerful devices like the Droid, Nexus One and the latest crop from HTC like Legend, Desire and the more recent one — the Evo 4G. This where it really gets regular and casual gamers who are Android users. It’s not like Android does not have any games. It does. There are quite a few gaming titles which are popular and are a good way to kill time. But they are not those really immersive games that get you hooked with their great artistry and development. Android needs games like those, like the ones enjoyed by iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad owners from the likes of Gameloft and Tap Tap Revenge.

And so, it gives me great pleasure to mention that a iOS great Social Gaming Network — OpenFeint — is coming to the Android OS. They intend to serve the users to through several gaming titles and also provide chatting services so fellow gamers can keep in touch at all times. Sharing the excitement and battling it out with each other — the social gaming experience is something that will surely bring the Android gaming experience to maturity.

Best of all, once someone has taken an initiative in such a big way; other developers will want in on the action. This will lead up to, hopefully, a nice chain of events when I will be able to file away more posts under the Games category on this blog.
